For far too long the Black professional community has bared the burden of code switching, being held to higher standards with less reward and not supported in way to truly promote faster more equitable growth and opportunities.
Having sat in various rooms, zoom calls, team chats and etc. where I am the only one I can share from experience as well from knowledge. The knowledge of doing research, listening to others and watching with my own eyes.
The beginning of Qualified and Black started from a desire to remind the world and others that there are plenty of Qualified and Black talent. In 2020 when Wells Fargo made mention that there is not enough qualified and black talent when I sat in other meetings at corporations who eluded to the same sentiments I knew and created an Instagram page Qualified and Black that I wanted to build and Celebrate YOU ALL out loud. We will continue to explore, expand and create what WE need because Qualified and Black is just beginning. So stay tuned for updates to this blog page, check out the forum page where you can ask anonymous questions and connect to learn from the responses of others. The more our dialogue of support builds the more empowered we’ll be to elevate, protect, promote and defend ourselves.
Thank you for joining the movement for seeing me as I see you. Thank you for being unapologetically Qualified and Black.
Our Traumas and experiences don’t have to paralyze us but we can redefine it to fuel our TRIUMPH.
